Our strange world of words

Two Hours and Twenty Three Minutes (Poem) October 1, 2009

TWO HOURS AND TWENTY THREE MINUTES

by Lynne Whelon

The rythm of rails

splatters on windows

like the rain

and wraps me in this warm cocoon

for two hours and twenty three minutes

Exactly

I switch off my mobile

And read Hello magazine

from cover to cover

then eat decadent Cadburys

an exceptionally huge bar

which takes fifty six minutes

and twelve seconds to consume

And I don’t have to share it

With anyone
