Our strange world of words

Guarded (Poem) October 19, 2009

Guarded

By Sue Paylor

fucked off

withered refusal

to accept

out of step

ponderous

placing

fences

barbed fences

razor wire

slashing raw flesh

piercing bone

skidding rocket mind

exploding brick walls

cascading words

wrapped in metaphor

tongue split

hanging

immutable

shape shadows

lurking

just out of reach

always out of reach

shower storm suprises

speeding crazed chicane

mind fleet

light foot escapade

reeling cliff edged

teetering

unexpected nightmare

straight jacketed

unbearable venture

skin deep

further

further than the deep end

void in darkness

shattering words

muted

regretful

deluded cruelty

constructed

plaited remnants of pain

tidal wave

eroding footprints

imprints

all trace of landscape

quiet marks of memory

silencing sound

savage beauty.
