Our strange world of words

Last Blackberry Pick (poem) October 19, 2009

Last Blackberry Pick

By Sue Paylor

Dew sodden blackberry bush

No longer laden with fruit,

Casts remnants of this year’s harvest

Skywards.

Occasional ripe berry pick

Beneath the branch,

Reveals a luscious cluster,

Reminiscent of summer,

Confusing change of season,

Almost hopeful,

Nettle sting.
